Hey, I’m Nicole.
I’ve lived in the greater Grand Rapids, Michigan area my whole life. My absolute passion is ceramics and in the past 3-4 years I have become obsessed with the beauty that wood firings can bring to ceramic works. I work with a local group of potters on firing this outdoor kiln. We all put our own work in the kiln and spend 24-48 hours hanging out and working with the natural flow of flames in the kiln to get beautiful color work on the outside of our pots. The heat and wood ash combine to form a glassy surface on much of the pottery. It’s an increadible process that involves a joyful community of people working with clay and nature to create art and I’m so excited to be able to share it with you.
